VapoFil Supplement Facts: The Panel Printed On The Bottle

Serving size two capsules, thirty servings a container, seven actives totalling 98 mg, and no proprietary blend anywhere on the panel. Other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, gelatin and magnesium stearate. Both concentrated extracts declare a ratio and a dry-weight equivalent.

Everything below is transcribed from the label artwork rather than from the seller's description, because on this product the two do not agree.

The panel itself

The VapoFil panel, transcribed

Row, as the label prints itAmount per 2 capsules% Daily Value
Saw Palmetto Berry Extract20 mg
Wild Yam Root Extract20 mg
Sarsaparilla Root Extract20 mg
Nettle Leaf Extract20 mg
Boron Amino Acid Chelate 5%20 mg
Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma Longifolia), from a 100:1 extract, equivalent to approximately 1,000 mg of dry Tongkat Ali powder10 mg
Horny Goat Weed (Epimedium sagittatum), from a 10:1 extract, equivalent to approximately 80 mg of dry Horny Goat Weed powder8 mg

A dagger marks a row for which no Daily Value has been established. The panel prints no proprietary blend: there is an amount against every line.

The VapoFil label artwork showing the Supplement Facts panel, suggested use, storage and caution

Serving size is two capsules and there are thirty servings in the container, so a bottle is a month with no spare days. Other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose (mcc), gelatin, magnesium stearate.

The panel carries a dagger against every row, which is the standard mark for an ingredient with no established Daily Value. That is expected for botanicals and it is not a gap in the label.

The artwork also prints the suggested use, the storage instruction, the caution, the distributor, and the revision code REV 10/24.

Honest dosage analysis

Every VapoFil amount against the amount its research used

Ingredient
On the VapoFil panel
In the published research
Saw palmetto (berry)
20 mg
320 mg/day of a lipidosterolic extract in essentially every trial. The 2023 Cochrane review then found, at high certainty, that even that amount does little to nothing for urinary symptoms
Wild yam (root)
20 mg
The one controlled trial applied a wild yam cream for three months and found no change in any hormone it measured. It was run in menopausal women; no male trial exists
Sarsaparilla (root)
20 mg
No human trial at any dose. What the literature holds is chemistry: the steroidal saponins the root contains, and what they do in a flask
Nettle (leaf)
20 mg
The twelve-month trial used root at 459 mg/day. The SHBG binding everyone quotes was measured in root lignans. Leaf is a different part of the plant
Boron (5% amino acid chelate)
20 mg
At the 5% the label declares, this row carries about 1 mg of boron, which is roughly what a mixed diet supplies in a day
Tongkat ali (100:1 extract)
10 mg
100–400 mg/day of a standardised extract in the trials. The label's own 1,000 mg dry-powder equivalent is not the same measure as a standardised extract dose
Horny goat weed (10:1 extract)
8 mg
There is no randomised trial in men at any dose. The PDE5 work was done on isolated enzyme, and the erectile work was done in rats

Five rows are a straight comparison and they all point the same way. Two rows are not a straight comparison at all, and it is worth being precise about why.

Tongkat ali at 10 mg of a 100:1 extract is stated as equivalent to 1,000 mg of dry root powder. The trials used 100 to 400 mg of a standardised extract, which is a different quantity being measured. A standardised extract is defined by how much of a named compound it contains; a ratio extract is defined by how much material went into making it. The second tells you nothing reliable about the first.

Horny goat weed at 8 mg of a 10:1 extract has no trial to compare against in the first place. There is no randomised study of Epimedium or icariin in men at any dose, so the row cannot be called under-dosed or well-dosed. It can only be called untested.

Credit where it is due

What the VapoFil panel does better than most

  • Every active carries a number. Five words — proprietary blend, amount withheld — are what most of this shelf prints instead.
  • Both concentrates declare their ratio, which is more than the usual bare milligram and lets a reader do the dry-weight arithmetic.
  • The other-ingredients line is complete and names the shell material, which is how the gelatin question can be settled at all.
  • The serving size is at the top where it belongs, so the figures cannot be misread as per-capsule amounts by anybody reading carefully.
  • Seven rows rather than fifteen. A short panel at small amounts is more honest than a long one at invisible ones.

None of that makes the amounts larger. It makes them checkable, which is the precondition for everything else on this website. A panel that hides its figures cannot be praised or criticised, only believed or not.

What is still not printed

Questions the VapoFil panel still leaves open

What the saw palmetto extract is standardised to

The label says berry extract and stops. Fatty acid content is what the trials specified, typically 85 to 95%. Without it, 20 mg could mean several things.

Which Smilax species the sarsaparilla is

Sarsaparilla covers a genus, and the review literature treats the species separately. The panel names none.

What the tongkat ali extract contains

A 100:1 ratio and a dry-weight equivalent are declared. The eurycomanone content, which is what the trial extracts were characterised by, is not.

Whether the icariin content is known

A 10:1 ratio is stated. Icariin percentage is not, and Epimedium material varies widely between batches.

Four open questions on a panel that answers the seven big ones is a good ratio for this category. They are listed because a reader who wants to write to the distributor should know what to ask, and the address is on the contact page.
